Villa Alfresco is conveniently located so that most of the options are at a very short walk, bike or drive from Our villa. GPS and GPX files for biking and hiking lovers are available, so that our guests may chose itineraries that fit best at them without any stress. Green living enthusiasts may as well match their loved hobby by chosing the Padule di Fucecchio Reserve, a sanctuary for thousands and thousands of migrant birds of more than 1100 species, at less than 15 minutes drive from Villa Alfresco. Horseback riding is also possible and close to the area, as well as sport fishing in river or in sport lakes, if not on the Sea. If you love spending your time outdoors Villa Alfresco is the best place for your next holidays.
What to do
Hiking & Walking
Hiking is fun. Hiking is good for your soul, it's a bit like life and it's a sport. Hiking with no need for cars, hiking with the ones you love, with family, with kids, with your dog. Hiking from your Villa in Tuscany, with no need to take a car. Villa Alfresco is perfectly located in this area so that you will find many hicking options near you, or at few miles. Hiking in Tuscany is often possible on hills more than mountains, but it does offer spectacular views and exciting trails to discover. With some little delicious food at the end of the road, as you probably already imagine.
Biking
There are many bike trails in Tuscany, as well as bicycle paths for beginners: for over thirty years now visitors have been finding out and enjoying how it's easy to find nice, scenographic, dramatic or challenging bike trails in Tuscany, and nobody seems to have quite enough of those. Biking is an incredible activity, easy to do at home knowing roads and paths, but sometimes it's difficult to understand where bike trails can be near your holiday villa or hotels. At Villa Alfresco we have many GPS or GPX files available for our guests so that they can enjoy one or more days biking around. Sometimes it's nice just to travel around with simple city bikes, sometimes an e-bike is preferable, and some other families love to experience the gravel bikes: Villa Alfresco collaborates with bike rental facilities that can accommodate any wish, from ebikes to gravel bikes, including full equipment if it needs to be rented out. Birdwatching
Green living enthusiasts around the world are growing their interest for birdwatching and for wildlife watching around the world: Tuscany may not be famous for this, but it does have a number of Naturale Reserves and Parks that allow these activities in an exciting way. Close to Villa Alfresco, less than 20 minutes drive from our villa there is a Natural Reserve called Padule di Fucecchio that is known for being home to thousands of migrant birds. Over 1500 species coming from all over the world that keep on coming back in this area: from wild gooses to ducks, to storks and flamingos, and also egyptian Ibis and many other significant and rare species.
The Padule di Fucecchio reserve is a sanctuary for all those loving to spot birds in their free environments, and they won't be the only wildlife you will be able to see: many other species composing an incredible biodiversity, perfectly integrated with the small village located by the shores of the Padule waters. In some part of the year it is possible to visit the Padule di Fucecchio also with a little typical boat, by bike and riding a horse, if hiking is not enough for you!
KIDS "R" WELCOME
Villa Alfresco is suitable for children, for families or group of friends with many kids: baby cots and cribs are available, as well as all the necessary in-house facilities for them, including some games and a lot of space where they can play safely. Wifi is working perfectly everywhere, giving easy access to web channels and internet - games with entertainment for kids. The swimming pool is protected and it is maximum 1mt 40cm high. Other than the bigger one, we also have a service small kitchen on the first floor, closer to the sleeping rooms area, in case children or toddlers have needs during the night.
This part of Tuscany offers many activities for kids, starting from the Funicular train to Montecatini Alto, 5 mins drive, to parks, themed parks, a natural sustainable zoo, trekking and soft trekking paths, and the beach with a quiet seaside is only 35 mins drive from our place.
